Arsenal could potentially target Youssef En-Nesyri as the long-term replacement for captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang next summer.
According to Seville publication La Colina de Nervion, Arsenal could move for striker Youssef En-Nesyri in the next summer window as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. This summer, the Sevilla striker attracted plenty of interest from Premier League sides, but the La Liga clubwere not interested in a sale.
Arsenal’s problems have been compounded due to a lack of goals in their opening three games, all of which they lost. The club have scored zero goals in those games, languishing at the bottom of the table. No matter how much Mikel Arteta wanted to sign a new striker, the club could not shift existing forwards. They were heavily criticised for missing out on a striker, particularly Tammy Abraham, who joined Roma.
Next summer, the plans could fall in place, as the contracts of Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette expire, while the form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken a worrying turn. The club captain has endured a dreadful patch of form since signing a massive new deal last summer. If his current form continues, Arsenal will not hesitate to move him on.
Reports suggest the Gunners might already have a replacement in mind in Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri. Arsenal might prepare a bid for the forward next summer, although his price tag may be high. Tied to a contract at Sevilla until 2025, the Premier League side will have to try their best to convince the Spanish side to part ways.
En-Nesyri had a sensational season with Sevilla scoring 24 goals in all competitions. After losing key striker Luuk de Jong to Barcelona, the emphasis might be placed more on the Morrocan to have a more prominent role in the side.
There was keen interest from the Premier League in the striker, as some big clubs showed a willingness to make a move. West Ham were one of the sides who wanted to bring the Morrocan and shore up their forward line. However, Sevilla held firm on their stance and convinced En-Nesyri to ignore overtures from England.
While Sevilla and Monchi were successful in their attempts to ignore interest this summer, the tables might turn next year. If the striker has another prolific season under his belt, he could soon be regarded in the elite category. Given his good age of 24, clubs can plan their long term future with the Morrocan.
Arsenal might become an attractive option if the club have a good season and qualify for European football again, preferably the Champions League. However, En-Nesyri has only had one good season under his belt, and Arteta would surely keep an eye on his development this term. If he can replicate or better the 24 goals scored from last season, Arsenal and other elite clubs would jump at the chance of signing him.
