Barcelona and Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs that are keeping tabs on 19-year-old German international Karim Adeyemi.

According to a report by German publication Bild, Karim Adeyemi’s impressive performances have captured the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Barcelona and Liverpool are among his prospective suitors, with Bayern Munich also closely monitoring the 19-year-old German international.

Karim Adeyemi spent his formative years at three different German clubs including Bayern Munich before joining Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2018. The teenage prodigy was subsequently sent out on loan to FC Liefering for 18 months before he returned to Salzburg last year.

Since then, the 19-year-old has made stunning progress in his career, and at the onset of 2021/22, he has seven goals and an assist in nine appearances. At the same time, Adeyemi has also broken into the German national side, even scoring on debut against Armenia in the ongoing international break. And unsurprisingly, several clubs have been tracking him, including Barcelona and Liverpool.

The interest from Barcelona makes sense despite the fact that they signed Luuk de Jong and Sergio Aguero in the summer transfer window. Indeed, Aguero is entering the twilight of his career and has had his fair share of fitness issues in recent times while de Jong has only been signed on loan and might not arrive permanently next year.

In addition, Martin Braithwaite is into his thirties now and could well be sold by Barcelona by the time next summer’s transfer window opens. So, Adeyemi is a player who could form a part of the long-term solution in attack for Barcelona. Liverpool, on the other hand, could have a more immediate use of the 19-year-old.

Roberto Firmino will turn 30 this year, with the Reds’ entire first-choice attacking trio entering the final years of their peak periods. And with Divock Origi surplus to requirements and in discussions to join Fenerbahce, Adeyemi could initially come in as a replacement for the Belgian international before eventually succeeding Firmino as the leader of the Liverpool attack.

As per Bild, Barcelona and Liverpool are simply monitoring the progress of Adeyemi for the moment, with former club Bayern Munich also in his pursuit. What now remains to be seen if any of the three prospective suitors make their move for the German international anytime soon or if some other club emerges in his pursuit.
