Real Betis have reportedly rekindled their pursuit of Dani Ceballos, with a January move in the works for the Real Madrid outcast.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Real Betis are keen on re-signing Dani Ceballos and have, therefore, reignited their interest in the Real Madrid outcast. To that end, the Andalusian club will launch the offensive for their former player in the January transfer window.

Dani Ceballos joined Real Madrid from Real Betis in the summer of 2017, arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu amid a lot of hype surrounding his talent following his breakthrough at Estadio Benito Villamarin. However, the move to the Spanish capital has not worked out one bit for the 25-year-old, who has been a backup option all through his time at the club.

After two years of frustration at Real Madrid, Ceballos was sent on loan twice to Arsenal in back to back seasons, although he endured a mixed bag of a spell at the Emirates. Now back at Real Madrid, his fortunes have not improved under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti, although the Spanish international is currently out with an ankle injury.

To date, Ceballos has made 56 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in with five goals and two assists along the way. And now, the 25-year-old has popped up on the radar of former club Real Betis.

In fact, Real Betis had been keen on signing the Spaniard in the summer transfer window, with the report suggesting that they were hot on his trails till the final hours of the window. Having missed out on the Real Madrid outcast in the summer, Los Verdiblancos are now ready to make a January move for him.

The interest in Ceballos makes sense as well, considering Andres Guardado is approaching the end of his career. So, the 25-year-old could be a long-term successor for the veteran Mexican midfielder, making the Benito Villamarin Stadium an appealing destination.

With Real Madrid in the market for a midfielder amid links with Paul Pogba and several others, a January exit could be a prudent move for Ceballos. What now remains to be seen is if Real Betis can finally manage to sign their former player this winter.
