Liverpool keeping tabs on Valencia star Carlos Soler who is going from strength to strength in La Liga

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are keeping track of Valencia star Carlos Soler and could move to land him next summer.

The Reds have endured a rather underwhelming summer that saw them land just Ibrahima Konate. Both Georginio Wijnaldum and Xherdan Shaqiri moved on but were not replaced by any senior players coming in.

Jurgen Klopp’s side could do with a new midfielder and appear to have set their sights on Soler. The 24-year-old is one of the stars at the Mestalla and has seen his stock rise over the years. Soler’s contract at Valencia expires in 2023, yet there is no news on him extending the deal.

The Spanish international will have just a year to go on his contract at the end of the 2021/22 season and could be available for a bargain price. Liverpool appear set to take advantage of the situation to land their man.

Soler is primarily a central midfielder who can also play different roles in the middle of the park. His versatility will appeal to Klopp, who appears to be sold on his abilities. Valencia, meanwhile, will not be keen to lose their star man and will need some convincing.

The midfielder came through the academy at Valencia before making his first-team bow in 2016. He has since made 188 appearances, scoring and assisting 26 each. Soler possesses a good eye for a pass and is also a deft hand at set-pieces. His pace and movement will make him an interesting addition to the Reds midfield.

Soler has started the season brightly and has netted three goals for Valencia in three games so far. He made his international debut for Spain against Sweden on Thursday and scored within four minutes. He was one of the few bright spots in what was a disappointing performance by La Roja.

The 24-year-old appears to be on the cusp of taking the next step in his career. While Valencia is a club steeped in history, they are far from a power in today’s Spanish football. There is a limit as to what Soler can achieve should he stay at the Mestalla.

Liverpool are certainly an interesting choice given where they are under Klopp. With Jordan Henderson and James Milner not getting any younger, an injection of youth is needed sooner rather than later. The German will need to start rebuilding his side next summer, and Soler could very well be one of the first pieces of a new jigsaw. The clamour to sign him will only grow should he keep up the same level of performance.
