Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo, who is close to agreeing personal terms with Manchester City.

According to French journalist Santi Aouna, the transfer saga involving Cristiano Ronaldo is getting murkier by the day. Manchester United have been offered the chance to re-sign the Portuguese international, who is also close to reaching an agreement with Manchester City on personal terms.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players to have ever taken to a football field. A bonafide legend for two clubs, Ronaldo first took the footballing world by storm while at Manchester United before realising his dream of playing for Real Madrid, with whom he enjoyed unprecedented success, winning four UEFA Champions League titles among other honours.

The 36-year-old is currently at Juventus, having made his way to Turin from Real Madrid in a shock move in the summer of 2018. And on a personal level, the veteran forward has only gone from strength to strength, managing a fabulous tally of 101 goals and 22 assists in 134 outings. But it looks like Ronaldo might be set to end his stint with Juventus, with Manchester United and Manchester City being linked with him.

Manchester City have been desperate to sign a prolific forward this summer following the exit of Sergio Aguero. The Premier League champions were initially linked with Harry Kane before he chose to stay put at Tottenham. As a result, City have had to turn their attention towards alternate targets.

To that end, Ronaldo has emerged as a viable target for Manchester City, with the player himself reportedly keen on joining them. However, the entry of neighbours Manchester United in the picture could complicate matters for the Citizens.

Interestingly, Manchester United have been offered the chance to re-sign Ronaldo, and there are no suggestions as to whether the Red Devils wish to bring him back to Old Trafford. Manchester United indeed have a stacked attacking unit, although Ronaldo would arguably be an upgrade on just about every player at the club.

Having said that, Santi Aouna does mention that Manchester City are closing in on reaching an agreement with the 36-year-old over personal terms. It has recently been reports that City have offered the former Manchester United forward a lucrative two-year deal.

If Ronaldo has indeed agreed personal terms with City, it will come as a controversial move, as far as the Manchester United fans are concerned. What now remains to be seen is if Manchester City do end up swooping the Portuguese international away from Juventus or if Manchester United do anything about being offered the chance to sign him.
