Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks with Wolves to sign 25-year-old Spanish speedster Adama Traore late in the ongoing window.

According to a report by The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their efforts to sign Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers before the summer transfer window slams shut. The north London giants are in discussions with Wolves over a move for the 25-year-old Spanish speedster.

Adama Traore has been one of the key players for Wolverhampton Wanderers since arriving from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018. A player who had often frustrated with his inability to be consistent in the final third up until that point, the La Masia graduate has managed to add to his game a fair bit in the last three years, even though 2020/21 was a season to forget.

To date, the 25-year-old has managed a tally of 10 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances for the Black Country outfit, with his progress also earning him his breakthrough in the Spanish national side. At the same time, the Wolves speedster has also captured the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with interest particularly stemming from the Premier League, where Tottenham are currently hot on his trails.

Spurs are reportedly in the market for a wide attacking option despite the arrival of Bryan Gil. The north Londoners could indeed do with quality options in attack, with the likes of Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn being too inconsistent for any manager’s liking. As a result, Tottenham have turned their attention towards Traore.

The 25-year-old is a player who blossomed under the tutelage of current Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo during their time together at Wolves. And as a result, Tottenham are preparing an offer for Traore, with a bid likely to be tabled soon enough.

As things stand, Tottenham are in talks with Wolves to hash out a potential deal for the Spanish international. The north Londoners would feel that Traore is ripe for the taking considering his current deal expires in less than two years, with talks over a new contract being eerily slow.

What now remains to be seen is if the discussions between the two Premier League clubs progress smoothly. If so, a deal could well be agreed soon enough, although it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to meet Wolves’ valuation of the 25-year-old speedster.
