Tottenham Hotspur have been slapped with a £40 million price tag for the services of their former academy player Noni Madueke.

According to Mirror, PSV Eindhoven have recently announced their asking fee for Noni Madueke. After losing Donyell Malen to Borussia Dortmund, the Eredivisie giants are intent on keeping hold of the winger, with the club now demanding £40 million.

Madueke has mainly been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City have also expressed interest in the 19-year-old English under-21 international.

A native of London, Madueke had played for the Tottenham academy for four years before moving to PSV in 2018, in search of a breakthrough in professional football. His breakthrough came last season, with the winger being involved in 13 league goals in 24 matches.

And with Malen gone, the 19-year-old is expected to become the focal point of the PSV attack this season. Tottenham, though, are intent on snapping him away from Eindhoven and make him their latest addition, as new coach Nuno Espirito Santo continues to vouch for more reinforcements in the attacking department.

The Lilywhites have already brought in Bryan Gil so far this summer. But they believe Madueke can further improve their attacking unit that has had to part ways with Erik Lamela while the returning youngster Ryan Sessegnon is unlikely to get any recognition either.

It opens up the avenue for the young winger to compete with Steven Bergwjin for a place in the starting eleven. However, an asking fee of £40 million is sure to put off the north London giants, potentially even forcing them to look for other alternatives in the market.

Tottenham have recently expressed a desire to sign Georgian wonderkid Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Rubin Kazan. He could be a cost-effective alternative for Madueke, although the English under-21 international certainly offers the additional prospect of having already plied his trade in England prior to his move to PSV.

It remains to be seen whether the potential sale of Harry Kane has any effect on Tottenham’s pursuit of Madueke, knowing they will receive a major financial boost, allowing them to fund move for most of their top targets in the summer.
