30-year-old Dutch forward Luuk de Jong has reportedly been offered to Barcelona, who will only be able to sign him on loan this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign Luuk de Jong before the summer transfer window slams shut. The 30-year-old Dutch forward is set to leave La Liga giants Sevilla, with West Ham United and PSV Eindhoven also keen on securing his services.

Luuk de Jong joined Sevilla from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2019 and has since been one of the better performers for the Andalusian club. A winner of the UEFA Europa League with the La Liga giants, the Dutch international has made 94 appearances for them while managing a record of 19 goals and five assists in the process.

However, following the arrival of Rafa Mir, who was once linked with Barcelona, the 30-year-old is surplus to requirements at Sevilla. And while he has no shortage of suitors at the moment, de Jong has been offered to fellow La Liga giants Barcelona over a late move in the ongoing window.

Barcelona have been rumoured to be in the market for a striker late in the transfer window despite the arrival of Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero. That is because Martin Braithwaite continues to be linked with a potential summer exit amid heavy links with West Ham United while Aguero is yet to even make his debut for the Blaugrana due to an injury.

As a result, the Catalan outfit have been linked with a number of strikers in recent times including Arsenal pair Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, although those rumours have since been quashed. And de Jong is a viable target as well for Barcelona, who can use the Dutch forward as a rotation option.

Barcelona, though, can only afford to sign the 30-year-old on a loan deal owing to their precarious financial situation. Meanwhile, apart from the La Liga heavyweights, former club PSV Eindhoven and West Ham United are also interested in signing de Jong.

For now, Luuk de Jong has been offered to Barcelona, where Ronald Koeman knows of his qualities perfectly from their time together at the Dutch national side. What now remains to be seen is if Barcelona do make their move for the experienced striker or if some other suitor swoops him away from Sevilla instead.
