Real Madrid are reportedly considering a late move for 24-year-old French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who is valued at €50 million by Tottenham.

According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Real Madrid’s search for a midfielder has taken them to north London, with Tanguy Ndombele emerging as a target. The French midfielder is touted to leave Tottenham before the summer transfer window slams shut, with Spurs slapping a €50 million price tag on him.

Tanguy Ndombele joined Tottenham Hotspur from Lyon in the summer of 2019. Signed for a club transfer record fee, the 24-year-old was expected to be a long-term solution in midfield for the north Londoners, only for him to struggle to make an impact consistently under each of the managers he has played under at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

To date, the French midfielder has made 75 appearances for Spurs while contributing with eight goals and as many assists along the way. However, his Tottenham future is up in the air, with recent reports suggesting that Ndombele wishes to leave the club, with Nuno Espirito Santo yet to make him a part of his plans. And his situation seems to have piqued the interest of Real Madrid.

Real Madrid have been reported to be in the market for a midfielder this summer as they look to lay down a succession plan for Luka Modric while also keeping one eye on the future of Toni Kroos, who is approaching the final phase of his career as well. The options beyond the veteran duo are running quite thin, with Federico Valverde the only long-term midfield solution.

Indeed, the likes of Isco and Dani Ceballos are facing an uncertain future at the Spanish club while Martin Odegaard has already been sold to Arsenal. If the clear out continues in the form of the sales of Isco and Ceballos, Real Madrid could well be finally making a move for a midfielder, with Ndombele a viable target.

Real Madrid have been linked with the likes of Paul Pogba, Aurelien Tchouameni and Pape Matar Sarr, but Ndombele could be seen as an option to come in this summer instead of the next, as is the case with Tchouameni and Pogba. However, Los Blancos will need to pay the big bucks to land the 24-year-old, who is valued at €50 million by Tottenham.

However, with a bid for Kylian Mbappe in the works as well, it is unclear whether Real Madrid will be willing to shell out around €50 million on Ndombele. For now, the French midfielder has emerged as a target for the Merengues, and it remains to be seen if he ends up making his way to the Spanish capital this summer.
