West Ham United are reportedly keeping an eye on Slavia Prague’s Senegalese forward Abdallah Sima as they look to shore up their attacking options.

According to a report from Eurosport, West Ham United are interested in signing 20-year-old Abdallah Sima from Slavia Prague in the ongoing transfer window.

Sima has been on the books at Slavia Prague since last summer after arriving from fellow Czech Republic outfit FC Mas Taborsko. Having initially linked up with the club’s B team, the 20-year-old was quickly fast-tracked into the senior side and he did not disappoint.

Sima finished the 2020/21 campaign with an impressive return of 16 goals and six assists from 32 games across all competitions, earning himself a call-up to the Senegalese national team, for whom he has now featured twice. The 20-year-old has played four times in the new season for Slavia Prague, grabbing one assist.

A versatile forward who can play as a No. 9 or out on the flanks, Sima has previously been linked with Manchester United. Now, it is West Ham United that have shown an interest in acquiring the services of the Senegalese international as per the aforementioned report.

At this point, it is no secret that David Moyes & co. are scouring the market to bolster their attacking unit, especially in the centre-forward slot where there are no options beyond Michail Antonio. A number of players have been considered of late, ranging from Luuk de Jong of Sevilla to Mohamed Bayo of Clermont Foot.

Now, Sima, too, has emerged as an option for the east London giants as Moyes looks to make some headway in the transfer market with just over a week left for the window to slam shut. At 20, the Slavia Prague forward does not have a lot of top-level experience but has shown plenty of potential in his year-long stint with the Czech Republic giants.

A pacy customer, he could thrive in the West Ham side who set up to play on the counter, while his versatility would also make him an asset. Nonetheless, there are better, more proven options out there for the Hammers to consider as they look to build a roster capable of competing on a strong footing domestically and in Europe.

With time running out, they will need to make some moves swiftly or risk going through the season with a rather thin squad.

Sima looks like a typical Moyes signing, but West Ham’s need this season is for a proven or at lest a bit more experienced ‘striker’.
New rumour about Odsonne Eduoard from Celtic looks a bit more promising..
