Odsonne Edouard could be on the move, and Crystal Palace look like the main contender for the signature of the Celtic striker.

According to journalist Ryan Taylor, Crystal Palace could have moved up in the queue to sign Odsonnne Edouard in the coming days as interest mounts in the Celtic striker. Palace are still hoping to secure few vital signings before the close of the transfer window, as a striker would be a key arrival.

Palace began their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea and will face many such challenges in the coming weeks. However, in light of that loss, Patrick Vieira must have sensed the need to strengthen his group before the transfer deadline. Among other positions, a striker is deemed necessary.

The London based side had a tough summer as Vieira undertook a major overhaul of the playing squad. Plenty of players moved on after their contracts expired, and Palace have since invested significantly in young talent for the long-term future.

After initially shoring up their defence by signing Chelsea’s Marc Guehi and Lyon’s Joachim Andersen, among others, Vieira will now move to secure a striker. Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard is considered a key target, and the Premier League side have reportedly moved up in the queue of clubs aiming to sign him.

The striker, at 23 years of age, wants to further his career from Scotland onto the big leagues of England. His style of play suits that of the Premier League, and early interest from Arsenal proves the point. At Celtic, his numbers have been prolific, with 85 goals and 39 assists in the 175-games he has played for the club.

Meanwhile, Vieira has a decent looking frontline comprising of Wilfried Zaha, Jordan Ayew and Christian Benteke. However, the last few years have shown that Benteke may not be the ultimate solution for a prolific striker, despite the Belgian offering more physicality, ariel ability, and hold-up play.

And, Vieira is seeking a striker with those qualities above and a knack for scoring goals. The Celtic star could be a good choice considering his age and room for development. Edouard could come in and slowly become a part of Palace’s future. However, it remains to be seen how much Celtic might demand for Edouard. The striker only has a year left on his deal and might be available on a cut-price deal.
