Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a loan offer worth €10 million for Nahitan Nandez, with an obligation to buy him in the next summer.

According to a report from Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to step up their interest in signing Cagliari’s Uruguayan midfielder Nahitan Nandez before the summer transfer window closes.

Nandez, 25, has been with Cagliari since 2019 after having arrived from South American giants Boca Juniors, where he spent two successful years. Since arriving in Italy, the midfielder has grown into a key component of the Serie A outfit, racking up 72 appearances in which he has scored seven goals and set up four more.

A veteran of 41 caps for the Uruguayan national team, Nandez is set to leave Cagliari this summer, with the club open to offloading him after he missed a pre-season friendly to force through an exit. This development has piqued the interest of several clubs in England, with Tottenham being one among them.

Tottenham have had an impressive transfer window thus far under new sporting director Fabio Paratici and manager Nuno Espirito Santo. While they have been successful in keeping hold of Harry Kane so far, the Lilywhites have also made three impressive signings in the form of Pierluigi Gollini, Cristian Romero and Bryan Gil.

More incomings are expected before the transfer window, with another defender and a striker seemingly high on the shopping list. However, a new midfielder could also be brought in as question marks linger over the future of Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman is past his thirties and is attracting interest from clubs in the Middle East.

In addition to that, Tanguy Ndombele seems to have found himself out of favour with yet another Tottenham manager and could be staring at an uncertain future as well. With the situation being as it is, there could be scope for another midfield signing, making Nandez very much a viable option for the north London giants.

To that end, as per the aforementioned report, Tottenham are now preparing a bid for the 25-year-old South American midfielder. The Lilywhites will be offering a sum of €10 million to sign Nandez on loan for the ongoing season, with an obligation to make his transfer permanent next year for a fee of €25 million.

At 25, Nandez still has his best years ahead of him, while he is also an experienced customer. Adding someone like him to the midfield unit, alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, could take the shackles off of Spurs’ attacking midfielders, be it Dele Alli or Giovani Lo Celso. It now remains to be seen whether a move does materialise or if it is all just nothing more than paper talk.

No wonder players don’t want to come to Spurs, Daniel Levy procrastinating on every deal makes the players feel they aren’t really wanted. Who would want to go somewhere they’re not wanted?
When we go in for a player we should go in all guns blazing and make that player feel special, make them feel like Spurs want and need them.
It’s going to be interesting, all the players we’ve been chasing for so long, Tomiyasu, Milenkovic, Martinez, Vlahovic and Damsgaard, lets see how many we actually sign and what excuses we get for the ones we don’t sign. Levy and Lewis OUT !! I really have had enough of their BS. Just like Harry Kane has.
