Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to step up their interest in Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic by launching an opening formal offer for the Serbian.

According to a report from the Express, Tottenham Hotspur are set to press ahead in their pursuit of Fiorentina’s ace goalscorer Dusan Vlahovic by submitting a formal bid for the 21-year-old.

Vlahovic joined Fiorentina in the summer of 2018 from boyhood club Partizan Belgrade in his homeland, Serbia. The young striker took his time to bed in before enjoying a stunning campaign last time out, during which he plundered 21 goals in Serie A, finishing as the fourth-highest goal-getter in the competition.

Vlahovic has started the new season in the same vein of form as well, having already scored twice in the Viola’s Coppa Italia fixture this past weekend. A full international for Serbia, the centre-forward has seen a number of top clubs across Europe take an interest in his services due to his exploits over the last year.

However, it is Tottenham that have been at the forefront of the interest in Vlahovic. It is no secret that the Lilywhites find themselves in a bit of a tricky situation with regards to the future of superstar Harry Kane. The England captain, who returned to first-team training on Tuesday, has been heavily with a move to Manchester City.

Tottenham, though, are determined to keep hold of the 28-year-old and add another striker to the ranks as well, considering that there is little in the way of cover for Kane within the current squad. A move for Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan has been mooted, but following Romelu Lukaku’s switch to Chelsea, the Nerazzurri are unlikely to sell their other ace striker as well.

So, Tottenham are now set to ramp up their pursuit of Vlahovic, as per the report. It is claimed that the north London giants have been in constant contact with the striker’s agent, Darko Ristic, with Fiorentina also now bracing for a bid from the Lilywhites for their star forward. At the same time, the Serie A outfit remain intent on trying to tie him down to a new contract.

Tottenham, for their part, are ready to push ahead in their efforts to sign Vlahovic by making an opening offer for the Serbian. However, they are likely to face stiff competition from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, who are also intent on signing the centre-forward. It now remains to be seen if Nuno Espirito Santo & co. are able to make the 21-year-old their fourth signing of the summer.

I can see it now, Levy coming out with excuses of, we ran out of time to get the deal done, he’s only had all summer.

We need a world class striker asap, and Levy is playing games, just get the deal done, no other club takes as long as Spurs to strike a deal. Levy has to feel he’s saved a few quid and got the best of the deal, regardless if it’s the best for the squad or not.
