Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a summer swoop for Leeds United frontman Patrick Bamford as a potential alternative for Dusan Vlahovic.

According to the latest column in The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur have identified Patrick Bamford as their latest target. The Premier League giants are considering a move for the Leeds United forward in the wake of Harry Kane’s uncertain future at the club.

Spurs, though, are not eyeing Bamford as a replacement for Kane. Instead, they want to bring him in as a supporting figure, confident that their star player will remain at the club, despite recent reports suggesting Manchester City’s desire to fork out €150 million for the English international.

Either way, Tottenham have been in the market for a new striker this summer. Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic was their top target, but the Violas are intent on keeping the hold of the young Serbian, who is also valued at a whopping €60 million.

It is quite a fortune for a player who has only had one great season at Serie A. As such, they have now set their sights on Bamford, who has already proven himself in the Premier League by banging in 17 goals last term, helping Leeds United finish in the top half of the league table.

Bamford endured a horrid time in the club’s opening game of the 2021/22 season against Manchester United. But Spurs believe that the 27-year-old has the potential to become an asset for Nuno Espirito Santo’s attacking unit as he looks to usher in a new, more successful era in north London.

The Lilywhites already raised a lot of eyebrows with their victory over Manchester City recently, with Son Heung-Min starring in the narrow 1-0 triumph. However, it will be a difficult task to prise Bamford away from Elland Road this summer.

Leeds United have already shown a lot of ambition to compete for the European places this season and have kept their faith in their frontman. A move to Tottenham, in that regard, might not be a prudent move as it may hinder his progress, knowing he will likely play as second fiddle to Kane and Son.

Leeds themselves haven’t even bothered to sign a like-for-like alternative for Bamford. And with the FIFA World Cup just around the corner, the former Chelsea starlet will fancy his chance of playing for England by replicating his performances from last season this term.

Apart from Lautaro Martinez, who I think is just out of Tottenham’s reach, Bamford or Villa’s Ollie Watkins would be more than adequate additions to our squad. Both would suit our style of play.
The were times in the past when we played better without Kane. Yesterday’s victory over City was a further example.
