Barcelona are reportedly considering the possibility of re-signing 22-year-old former academy ace Guillem Jaime this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are keen on re-signing Guillem Jaime before the summer transfer window slams shut. The 22-year-old former La Masia ace is being eyed by the Catalan club to join their reserve side ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Guillem Jaime spent his formative years with Barcelona, having joined the Blaugrana in 2007 from CDC Torreforta. The youngster subsequently progressed through the ranks rapidly at the Catalan club but could never really break into the first-team setup at Camp Nou, apart from a couple of appearances in friendly games.

Instead, Jaime featured prominently for Barcelona B, amassing 47 appearances while chipping in with a goal and two assists before joining CD Castellon last summer. The move has not panned out quite as well as the 22-year-old former La Masia ace would have envisioned, having managed just 11 outings before being sent out on loan to Gimnastic de Tarragona in February.

Now back at Castellon, it is being mooted that Jaime could well be on his way out of the Primera Division RFEF outfit this summer, after just one season at the Valencian club. His next destination could be a familiar location, with Barcelona keen on re-signing him.

In particular, it is being speculated that Jaime will once again be representing Barcelona B, which makes sense, because Ronald Koeman currently has three options at his disposal to reprise the right-back role in the coming season. At Barcelona B, though, there is a need for a versatile right-sided player.

To that end, Jaime, who is capable of playing either as a right-back or further up the pitch equally adeptly, is being viewed as a priority target for Barcelona B. The Blaugrana have indeed been busy in the transfer market when it comes to bolstering their reserve as well as youth sides this summer, with the most recent addition being that of Antonio Aranda.

Now, it looks like Jaime is set to make his way back to Barcelona B this summer, with head coach Sergi Barjuan personally requesting for his addition for the coming season. What now remains to be seen is if the 22-year-old former academy ace indeed returns to the Catalan club this summer or if he stays put at CD Castellon.
