Leicester City and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in Ozan Kabak and have tabled a respective offer worth €8 million for the former Liverpool defender.

According to a report by German publication Bild, Leicester City and Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Ozan Kabak in the summer transfer window. The Premier League duo are willing to shell out €8 million for the former Liverpool defender, who is set to leave Schalke.

Ozan Kabak joined Schalke from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2019, and has blown hot and cold at the club to date. The 21-year-old, though, spent the second half of last season at Liverpool, where he went on to make 13 appearances towards the end of the campaign.

However, Liverpool chose not to sign Kabak permanently and have instead signed Ibrahima Konate in his place. Kabak, though, is certain for a summer move, with Schalke ready to cash in on him as well. The youngster has no shortage of suitors either, with Crystal Palace and Leicester City keen on signing him.

Crystal Palace are undergoing a major transition under the tutelage of Patrick Vieira, after having let close to a dozen players depart Selhurst Park. Defence was one of the worst-hit areas, with Gary Cahill and Mamadou Sakho both calling it quits at the club. So, while Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen have arrived this summer, another addition in the form of Kabak should not hurt.

Leicester City, on the other hand, have been forced into the transfer market for a centre-back after the gruesome injury sustained by Wesley Fofana, who is out for the foreseeable future. Fofana has also been linked with a big move to Real Madrid and so, Kabak has emerged as a viable target, especially considering he can come in and hit the ground running thanks to his experience with Liverpool.

As per the report, Leicester and Crystal Palace both appear to be serious with their interest in the 21-year-old, having tabled a bid worth €8 million for him. However, Schalke want a little more than the sum submitted, while Kabak is also garnering interest from Sevilla, who are set to reportedly lodge an offer as well.

What now remains to be seen is if Leicester or Crystal Palace are ready to raise their offer from the initial €8 million or if they turn their attention elsewhere. For now, Kabak’s future at Schalke remains uncertain, with a summer exit from the German club likely for the former Liverpool defender.
