Manchester United will listen to offers for Anthony Martial, although want around £50 million for the Frenchman with Everton reportedly interested.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United want £50 million for forward Anthony Martial, with Everton keen on the Frenchman. The Merseyside outfit are on the lookout for a forward in this window, as Rafael Benitez wants to improve his options, especially on the wings. However, United’s asking price might put them off.

Manchester United signed Martial in a then-record deal for a teenager. In all, the club have reportedly paid around £50 million to Monaco for the forward. The Premier League side are willing to move him on, although they are demanding £50 million for his services.

Inter Milan were considering him to replace the outgoing Romelu Lukaku, who will rejoin Chelsea in a bumper deal. Secondly, Martial’s reported £200,000-a-week wages were not a problem for the Italian side, who were keen on him since 2019.

However, Martial could entertain an offer from the Premier League as he feels settled in England. The forward is coming at the back of a serious injury and made his comeback in the 4-0 friendly win over, incidentally Everton. The striker showed no problems after being out of the game since March.

However, with Benitez looking to shore up his attack, Martial could be a viable option, especially if they have to pay £50 million. The Frenchman had a torrid season, scoring only four goals as Manchester United finished second in the Premier League, and failed to recapture his form from the 2019/20 season, where he scored over 20 goals in all competitions.

Even before he sustained the injury, Martial was seemingly behind in the pecking order after Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford. Additionally, new signing Jadon Sancho will presumably be ahead of the Frenchman when the season begins.

Martial could still prove his worth at Manchester United with good performances in the opening few weeks, as the transfer window only ends at the end of August. Rashford is to have a shoulder operation, while Cavani is yet to arrive for pre-season. Such a situation could force Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to field the French forward.

Either way, if he performs well during the opening few matches, he can expect Everton and the likes to continue being interested. Otherwise, Solskjaer can seemingly decide to keep him and give him another chance at Manchester United during the season.
