Real Madrid are reportedly tracking 18-year-old Slovenian whizkid Benjamin Sesko, termed as the “new Haaland”.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Benjamin Sesko is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a move in the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old Slovenian whizkid is currently at Red Bull Salzburg and is widely regarded as the “new Haaland”.
Benjamin Sesko joined Red Bull Salzburg from NK Domzale in the summer of 2019 and has since spent two years away from the club. Sent out on loan to FC Liefering immediately after he arrived at Salzburg, the teenage prodigy has made some massive strides in the last couple of years, racking up a solid tally of 22 goals and six assists in 44 appearances.
Now back at Salzburg, Sesko, who is being termed as the “new Haaland”, is likely to become the first-choice striker for the Austrian giants following Patson Daka’s move to Leicester City. The 18-year-old, though, is also attracting interest from one of the biggest clubs in the world, with Real Madrid closely monitoring his progress.
Real Madrid have garnered a reputation of being keen procurers of promising talents in Europe and beyond, having integrated several whizkids in the first-team setup in recent years, including Martin Odegaard, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr. among others. Another youngster who has been high on their agenda as per recent reports is Mikkel Damsgaard, who could be a long-term solution upfront.
The priority target to bolster Los Blancos’ attack, though, is Erling Haaland, with reports even claiming that a pre-agreement has been reached over a move next year. However, Real Madrid also need to sign someone to spruce up Carlo Ancelotti’s options in the final third this summer amid the inconsistencies of Marco Asensio, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. in addition to the struggles of Eden Hazard.
With Gareth Bale’s future also being up in the air, it is prudent to consider a summer move for a talented attacker, with Sesko a viable target. Having said that, Real Madrid are simply tracking the progress of the 18-year-old Slovenian as things stand.
For now, Sesko is the latest talented prospect to have popped up on Real Madrid’s radar, and it will be interesting to see if this interest turns into anything serious in the coming weeks.
