Everton are exploring signing Denzel Dumfries on loan from PSV but face competition from Inter Milan for the Dutch international.

According to Liverpool Echo, Everton are looking to sign Denzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven in the ongoing transfer window. However, the Merseysiders are looking only at an initial loan deal for the Dutchman and face stiff competition from Inter Milan.

Denzel Dumfries gained widespread attention after impressive performances at the Euros. Premier League sides and clubs from La Liga and Serie A have shown keen interest in bringing the right-back. However, Inter Milan and Everton have looked like frontrunners in recent weeks, with a move looking imminent.

Inter Milan are searching for a viable replacement for Achraf Hakimi, who was sold to balance their financial books. The Italian champions are also on the verge of parting ways with Romelu Lukaku and could divert some cash towards securing Dumfries.

Meanwhile, Everton want a solution at right-back and are looking at a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman. However, the Merseysiders currently do not want to commit towards a big transfer fee and want Dumfries on an initial loan deal.

Former manager Carlo Ancelotti had shown an interest in bringing him to Goodison Park and retained an interest when he moved to manage Real Madrid. However, Dumfries could likely fancy a move to England rather than other leagues.

Reports emerged of his desire to leave PSV in the current window as he explores options to develop his game further. At 25 years of age, Dumfries might feel this is the right time for a big move, and Everton might suit his game.

His attacking numbers are also impressive; his capability of chipping in goals and assists makes him an attractive option. Everton have held plenty of internal discussions with the board and manager Rafael Benitez over signing the full-back.

However, their idea of just a loan deal might not suit PSV, as the Dutch side might ask for a transfer fee. A permanent deal could be considered risky for Everton, as they want to test the player before committing to a significant payment.

It remains to be seen if Everton could strike a deal with the Dutch side. Dumfries will add a certain sharpness to the Everton side, something they were missing last season from the right side. He will also relish the challenge posed by the Premier League and could shine in England.
