Manchester City are reportedly set to complete a £100 million swoop of priority target Jack Grealish, with his medical pencilled in for Thursday.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have taken a further step closer to securing the services of Jack Grealish this summer. The Premier League champions have reached an agreement to sign the Aston Villa captain in a £100 million deal, with his medical scheduled for Thursday.

Jack Grealish has become one of the hottest properties in the transfer market since Aston Villa’s return to the Premier League two years ago. In this period, the 25-year-old has been the single-most influential figure for the Villans, who had him to thank for retaining their top-flight status in the first place before building on it with a solid 2020/21 campaign.

To date, Grealish has turned out 213 times for Aston Villa, chipping in with 32 goals and 43 assists along the way. At the same time, he has also become a regular within the English national squad, which points towards his constantly growing stature. Therefore, it is hardly surprising that a club like Manchester City would want to sign the Villans’ captain.

The interest from the Premier League champions also makes sense because Bernardo Silva seems to be facing an uncertain future at the Etihad, with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and even Arsenal being linked with the Portuguese international.

In addition, Raheem Sterling’s sub-par showings last term were a major cause for concern for Pep Guardiola as well. This is where someone like Grealish comes in, as his versatility enables him to reprise three different positions in the Manchester City side, giving Guardiola different options to utilise him.

Recent reports pointed towards Manchester City being ready to submit an offer worth £100 million for the English international and it looks like the Citizens are set to land him for precisely that sum from Aston Villa, having agreed a final fee while also completing paperwork for his transfer on Wednesday night.

Further, Grealish is now set to undergo his medical on Thursday, which will then see him completing a British transfer record £100 million move. All that now remains is for the transfer to be formally completed, with Grealish set to become Manchester City’s second summer signing.
