Liverpool are keeping track of four of Bayern Munich stars in Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman.

During an interview with SI, Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed Liverpool’s potential pursuit of four Bayern Munich stars. Although the Premier League giants are yet to make any official attempt for any of them, they are keeping an eye on the contract situation of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman.

“I am sure that Liverpool is aware of the contract situations of [Joshua] Kimmich, [Leon] Goretzka, [Kingsley] Coman and [Serge] Gnabry,” Plettenberg said when asked if the Reds were keeping an eye on any Bundesliga players.

It is no secret that there is trouble brewing at Bayern Munich, who are facing major difficulties in maintaining their wage structure. Their current system underpays star players whilst the lucrative wages of Leroy Sane has caused quite a rift in the Bavarian camp. The club’s reluctance to pay more is what primarily compelled David Alaba to join Real Madrid earlier this year.

And it appears several other players may follow suit, with Coman, in particular, being one of the prime candidates. The Frenchman is believed to be paid significantly lower than Sane despite emerging as arguably Bayern’s third-best attacker after Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski, who himself is facing an uncertain future at Bavaria and has been linked with a move to England.

Liverpool already have a long-standing interest in Coman, who is also a target for Manchester City and Chelsea. Aside from the winger, the Reds are also keeping track of the midfield duo of Goretzka and Kimmich.

The former apparently earns around €5 million per annum, which is incredibly low for a player of his calibre. As such, it won’t be surprising to see the midfield powerhouse leaving Allianz Arena, in favour of a more lucrative move elsewhere. He is reportedly a target for Manchester United but at Liverpool, he could be an ideal upgrade over Georginio Wijnaldum.

Kimmich, meanwhile, might be the toughest one to get and is pretty much considered to be untouchable. The German international is the future of Bayern Munich, who are likely to pay him a fortune in an attempt to keep hold of their prized asset for a foreseeable future.

His current contract at Bayern expires in 2023, but his teammate Goretzka faces a more precarious situation. The former Schalke midfielder is set to become a free agent next summer, so it will be interesting whether Liverpool can acquire his services.

The influence of Jurgen Klopp will certainly be critical in negotiations, with many experts suggesting that the combative midfielder could be an ideal fit for the German’s tactical philosophy. The same can be said of Serge Gnabry, who will certainly relish the opportunity to return to England and wrong his critics, following a disappointing spell at Arsenal.
