Barcelona have reportedly been offered an opportunity to secure the services of Wolves striker Rafa Mir, who impressed on loan at Huesca last term.

According to a report from Catalan publication Sport, La Liga bigwigs Barcelona have been offered a shot at signing Wolverhampton Wanderers and Spain centre-forward in the ongoing transfer window by super-agent Jorge Mendes.

Rafa Mir spent time at the academies of ElPozo Murcia and Ranero CF before he made his way to Barcelona’s La Masia setup in 2009. After two years within the club’s famed youth system, the striker signed for Real Murcia before moving to Valencia in 2012. While he made only a handful of appearances for the first-team, Rafa Mir impressed for Valencia’s B team, which earned him a transfer to Wolves in January 2018.

However, just six months and four appearances later, the Spaniard was on the move, joining Las Palmas on a season-long loan in 2018/19. Rafa Mir then spent the first half of the 2019/20 campaign at Nottingham Forest before signing for Huesca in January 2020 on a temporary basis, from which point on, he has gone from strength to strength.

The 24-year-old has scored 25 goals for the minnows in 57 games, out of which 16 came in the 2020/21 campaign. On the back of his displays, Rafa Mir also broke into the Spanish national team and racked up two appearances. Currently away at the Tokyo Olympics, he is making a case for himself, with his hat-trick against Ivory Coast sending Spain into the semi-finals.

And, it has now emerged that Rafa Mir’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has offered his services to Barcelona. The Catalans have already bolstered their attack this summer with the signings of Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero. However, question marks remain over the futures of Martin Braithwaite and Antoine Griezmann, while Ousmane Dembele’s injury means there could be room for another forward to come in.

Wolves, for their part, are ready to offload the striker permanently, considering that he has entered the final year of his contract, and this window represents their last chance at getting some transfer fee for the 24-year-old. The report even adds that the Premier League club would be open to a swap deal as well, which could appeal to Barcelona amidst the financial troubles.

However, it is claimed that Barcelona had already rejected the chance to sign Rafa Mir when he was offered to them a few months ago. And even though there could be room for another addition, it is unlikely that they will move for the Wolves man this summer.
