Liverpool are reportedly ready to fork out £30 million for the services of Adama Traore, with the Spanish attacker identified as a potential backup for the front three.

According to Daily Mirror, as relayed by Paisley Gates, Liverpool are weighing up a fresh move for Adama Traore. There is no secret that the club is in the market for attacking reinforcements, with head coach Jurgen Klopp determined to add some quality backup for the wide attacking duo of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

One of the club’s priority targets is Adama of Wolves, whose valuation has dropped significantly following a disappointing 2020/21 campaign. Liverpool are prepared to take full advantage of the situation as they look to submit a potential bid worth £30 million, though Wolves do value the player highly.

Traore’s current contract at the Molineux expires in 2023. But the 25-year-old Spanish attacker faces an uncertain future after struggling to perform last season. With a total of 37 appearances, the forward wasn’t devoid of first-team opportunities, but his tally of just two goals and three assists were highly disappointing for a player of his calibre.

While the Spaniard was making quite an impact with his pace and robust nature of play, clubs soon started to find it easier to mark him out of the game. And with manager Nuno Espirito Santo joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, it might be the end of the road for Traore, as far as his Wolves career is concerned.

It has put Liverpool on red alert as they look to move on from fringe players like Xherdan Shaqiri, Alex-Chamberlain and Divock Origi this summer. None of them has managed to make an impact at Anfield, with the former even confirming his departure during an interview in Italy.

To that end, Traore could be an excellent replacement. The 25-year-old has a track record of performing in the Premier League, despite a poor season, and his aggressive style of play could make him an ideal cog in Liverpool’s first line of press.

At Anfield, the former La Masia prodigy may also get the freedom to operate in a more attacking role. However, his move to Liverpool may hinge on Wolves’ decision, knowing the Reds are not likely to improve on their initial offer of £30 million, should the west Midlands outfit refuse the bid.

The 2020 English champions have no shortage of alternatives and have been linked with another explosive Premier League attacker in Ismaila Sarr this summer, while they are also closing in on the capture of Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool were short of goals last year. If you are going to shell out for a forward, why would you pay for a player who scores 2 goals a year and is injury prone ? Is he another Ox ? There are better players in our reserves.

  2. William Thong says:

My comments are that Liverpool spent the money to signed Tammy Abraham instead of Traore because Tammy also l fill up as local quota and he already show that he can perform better in EPL. I fill Liverpool only should get 1 more player of either Otavia or Ismaila Sarr or Dusan Vlahovic

  3. Sam says:

The club not being able to move to get Donyell Malen until we’d shifted players first, will come back to bite us.

Malen was the most suitable all round available this Summer.

Not a hope with 30 million,Jota going on the never never for 45 million is a marker, throw in Origi on top and they might get somewhere.

  5. Lorenzo Hart says:

All Liverpool need is Kylian Mbappe from PSG or Saul from Atletico Madrid

If divork and shaqiri leave Liverpool squad
Adama traore is a good replacement for shaqiri

  6. Zahid says:

Liverpool needs 3 player’s as replacement. My choice is Doku/ Renato Sanchez and Saka or Tomy Abraham.
