Manchester City are on the verge of completing the capture of Aston Villa and England superstar Jack Grealish next week.

According to Football Insider, Manchester City are closing in on the highl-anticipated capture of Jack Grealish. The Aston Villa playmaker has agreed a bumper contract with the Premier League champions and has his heart set on a move to Etihad, despite being offered a “double your wage” contract by his current club.

Manchester City themselves are further expected to pay £90 million, including add-ons, which should see them smash Premier League’s transfer record set by Paul Pogba when he joined Manchester United in 2016. Grealish is currently determined to leave Villa Park on good terms, as he shares a healthy relationship with his boyhood club.

The English international is already one of the most in-demand players in Europe, having starred in the Premier League for the past couple of seasons. He has been notably involved in 32 league goals since Aston Villa got promoted to the top-flight in 2019, with the playmaker also starring for England in the recently concluded Euro 2020.

Although the Three Lions were unable to win the title, Grealish has turned many heads with his impactful performances. As such, he became one of Pep Guardiola’s main targets this summer, as the Catalan mastermind looks to filter out his squad despite an excellent 2020/21 campaign.

Indeed, the Citizens are expected to cash in on a few of their star players this summer. Bernardo Silva, for one, has been linked with a move away from Etihad, with Arsenal recently joining the chase.

Raheem Sterling, too, was linked with an exit, but the Englishman’s excellent performances in Euro 202o may force Man City to reconsider. However, they may need to make space for Grealish in the attacking third, so it won’t be surprising to see Guardiola sanctioning the sale of either Silva or Riyad Mahrez this summer. Even Gabriel Jesus is a candidate amid speculations with Juventus.

As for Aston Villa, they have already started their preparations for life without Grealish. The Villans are tipped to sign Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen, while Rafinha is also a shock target for Dean Smith’s men, as they look to shore up their options in the creative department this summer.

The club has shown a lot of promise in recent years, so we can expect them to splurge a significant amount of money on new signings if and when Manchester City complete the capture of their star man this summer.
