Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made an offer to secure the services of 19-year-old English whizkid Caleb Chukwuemeka from Northampton Town.

According to a report by Football Insider, Caleb Chukwuemeka is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur over a move in the summer transfer window. To that end, Spurs have moved quickly in pursuit of the 19-year-old English attacker, offering Kion Etete in a swap deal to Northampton Town.

Caleb Chukwuemeka has made a major impression since breaking into the first-team setup at Northampton Town last year. In fact, the 2020/21 season proved to be his breakthrough campaign at senior level in club football, as he was a regular feature for the League Two club, although he only made four starts.

In all competitions, the 19-year-old made 28 appearances while chipping in with a couple of goals and an assist. While he is yet to establish himself as a starter for Northampton, he has done more than enough to impress some of the biggest clubs in England and beyond, with Tottenham Hotspur among his suitors this summer.

At Tottenham, Chukwuemeka might initially be part of the reserves side and compete in Premier League 2 before graduating to the first-team squad. However, judging by the potential he has shown, the English whizkid could potentially be a long-term successor for Harry Kane, whose future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is highly uncertain amid links with Manchester City.

Chukwuemeka, though, is also capable of playing on either flank, although Tottenham did bolster their wide attacking slots by signing Bryan Gil from Sevilla this week. Wherever Chukwuemeka slots in for good is an eventuality, but for now, Tottenham have made their move for him.

Spurs have tabled a swap deal to Northampton Town to prise the 19-year-old to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer. On offer for the League Two outfit is Kion Etete, who is keen on leaving the North London outfit in search of regular game-time at the first-team level.

The report does not mention whether Northampton are open to such a deal, although it will give them a chance to replace Chukwuemeka without shelling out any money. Also keeping Tottenham in good stead is the fact that the 19-year-old is in the final year of his deal with Northampton, and it remains to be seen if the Lilywhites can land the prodigious English attacker.
