Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing Conor Gallagher on a loan deal from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by The Athletic, Leeds United have set their sights swooping yet another midfielder away from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. This time around, Conor Gallagher has popped up on the Whites’ radar, with only a loan move likely for the 21-year-old whizkid.

Conor Gallagher is one of the brightest young players to have emanated from the Chelsea academy in recent years. However, the young midfielder is yet to make his big break in the Blues’ first-team setup, having been sent out on three different loan spells in the last couple of seasons.

Last term, the 21-year-old was one of the brightest sparks in an otherwise dire campaign for West Bromwich Albion, making a mark in 32 outings for the Baggies in what was his maiden top-flight season. Gallagher has impressed the decision-makers at Chelsea, but with the midfield unit laden with world-class individuals, another loan move is being mooted for him, with Leeds United keen on signing him.

Leeds United have already swooped one midfielder away from Chelsea this summer, with Lewis Bate making the switch to Elland Road this week. And now, Gallagher has also emerged as a viable target for the Whites, who are keen on bolstering their central midfield ranks in the ongoing window.

Kalvin Phillips has been nothing short of extraordinary for Leeds while Stuart Dallas has been top-notch since converting into a midfielder. However, there is not a whole lot in term of quality beyond the duo, especially with Mateusz Klich seeing his role being reduced last term.

As a result, the interest in Gallagher makes a world of sense, with Leeds keen on elevating the level of their squad to stake a claim for European qualification in the coming season. However, the West Yorkshire giants are not the only club keen on securing the services of the Chelsea whizkid this summer.

The 21-year-old is also being courted by Crystal Palace and Newcastle United, although Leeds are hopeful of snapping him up. Meanwhile, Chelsea are only willing to sanction a loan deal for Gallagher, as he is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge. What now remains to be seen is if the Whites can land the young midfielder this summer.

Better options out there for a permanent deal. Let’s not have another Ben White scenario

  2. Please please please no, we don’t want him, please victor orta steer clear, don’t be victor awful, you have redeemed yourself with decent signings. I watched Gallagher closely, and he does not bring anything to the game, looks busy, full of energy but offers nothing, cannot shoot or pass more than two yards and not good in a tackle. We have just signed Lewis Bate from Chelsea for the u23’s, now this boy will be class, you mark my words.
