Manchester City have entered the race to sign Federico Chiesa, who is a target for both Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

According to Calciomercato, Juventus’ battle to keep hold of Federico Chiesa is about to get tougher as Manchester City have now joined the race. The Fiorentina winger, who is currently on loan in Turin, is already courted by Chelsea and Bayern Munich, following his excellent performances for club and country.

Son of the revered Italian footballer Enrico Chiesa, Federico made his Serie A breakthrough at Fiorentina. And after making over 150 competitive appearances for the Viola, he joined Juventus last summer in a two-year-long loan deal. He hasn’t had to look back since, with the winger being involved in 16 league goals last term, emerging as one of the bright sparks in an otherwise dire campaign for the Bianconeri.

However, Chiesa made an even bigger impact in the recently concluded Euro 2020. With two vital goals in games against Austria and Spain, the 23-year-old was one of the key members of the Italian side that lifted the coveted title, even getting selected in the Team of the Tournament.

Earlier this month, Chelsea were reported to be interested in attaining the services of Federico Chiesa in light of his recent form. It appears the Italian international has been identified as the perfect option for Thomas Tuchel, as he hopes to add more quality in his ranks this summer.

Bayern Munich’s interest is fascinating, though and perhaps an indicator of Kingsley Coman’s uncertain future at the club. The Frenchman has recently become a subject of interest from Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

However, with Manchester City joining the race, Juventus’ hopes of keeping hold of Chiesa is sure to receive a major blow. It is no doubt that Bianconeri will exercise the €60 million buyout clause embedded in the Italian’s loan contract, which means they are in a position to ask for a hefty fee for the services of their prized asset.

In fact, Chiesa is more than likely to cost over the €100 million mark, perhaps even posing questions over the possibility of Manchester City shifting their interest away from their main target Jack Grealish. Recent reports suggest that the Englishman has agreed personal terms with the English champions, but it won’t be surprising to see Pep Guardiola prioritise a move for Chiesa instead.

At the age of 23, the Juventus winger offers a better prospect for the future. But his lack of experience in English football may give Grealish the advantage, so it will be interesting to see how both of these transfer sagas transpire over the coming few weeks.
