Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Italian giants Juventus over a deal involving 26-year-old French midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester United have held a meeting with Juventus to discuss various midfielders. One of the names that popped up in this meeting was Adrien Rabiot, which could suggest an interest in signing the 26-year-old French midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Adrien Rabiot joined Juventus in the summer of 2019 following an acrimonious departure from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent. The switch to the Allianz Stadium, though, has not worked out as envisioned, even though the 26-year-old has been a regular in the middle of the park for the Serie A heavyweights while also winning his place back in the French national side.

To date, the player has made 84 appearances for the Bianconeri, chipping in with six goals and four assists in the process. However, Rabiot has had the tendency to blow hot and cold, making him a rather frustrating figure for Juventus. However, that has not affected his stock in the transfer market, with Manchester United among his suitors this summer.

The English giants are in a precarious position over the future of Paul Pogba, who is starting to get heavily linked with a potential switch to PSG. If the French midfielder calls it quits at Old Trafford, Manchester United will need a replacement in the middle of the park, which explains why they have been linked with Saul Niguez, Eduardo Camavinga and Houssem Aouar among others.

To that end, Rabiot is a viable target as well for the Red Devils, who reportedly had the 26-year-old scouted at UEFA Euro 2020 as well. And it looks like Manchester United could be stepping up their efforts to land Rabiot further, after having held a meeting with fellow European giants Juventus.

This aforementioned meeting saw several names being discussed, one among which was Rabiot. Interestingly, Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek have also been mentioned by Rudy Galetti, and it will be interesting to see if Juventus are keen on swooping the duo away from Manchester United.

For now, it looks like Rabiot, Pogba and van de Beek have simply been discussed, with the nature of these talks unclear at the moment. Having said that, it remains to be seen if Manchester United are looking to prise the 26-year-old to Old Trafford, although that will likely depend on Pogba’s future at the club.

I wouldn’t touch Rabiot. Will bring unrest in the dressing room.
