Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly ready to raid his former side Wolves for centre-back Willy Boly, who is Tottenham’s latest defensive target.

According to talkSPORT, Tottenham are interested in Willy Boly as new boss Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to reunite with one of his former players at Wolves. The 30-year-old could be considered a cheaper alternative to some high profile targets on Spurs’ radar.

Tottenham have already witnessed a difficult summer with a search for a new manager as well as dodging questions regarding star man Harry Kane’s immediate future. While the Kane saga has taken a backseat, manager Nuno Espirito Santo is hoping to stamp his authority on this team with some shrewd signings.

Nuno wants to add players in varied positions he feels Spurs should strengthen. The main focus remains on bringing in one or two attackers in this window, but defensive signings are also needed. The Portuguese wants to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season and has a specific player in mind.

Wolves defender Willy Boly has seen his name being linked with a move to Spurs. The Ivory Coast centre-back was a mainstay at Molineux under Nuno and could be tempted by Tottenham’s interest. Signed from FC Porto back in 2018, Boly has made more than 130 appearances in all competition for the side.

His 2020/21 season was disrupted by injuries, which restricted him to make only 22 Premier League appearances. Boly, though, is fit again and could be considered by Tottenham as a viable alternative to some of their more high profile targets.

Jules Kounde was heavily linked in the past few days. There were rumours of a part-exchange deal involving Davinson Sanchez, something the Spanish club responded to positively. However, the French international reportedly rejected Tottenham to explore his options further.

The other big name would be Milan Skriniar, who Spurs have been interested in since last summer. Inter Milan are adamant the player is not for sale, although they might entertain an offer if their valuation is met. Tottenham have reportedly made an offer, but the Italian champions swiftly rejected it.

While the high profile targets remain for discussion, Nuno wants quick resolution and signings, even if it is short-term. Bologna’s versatile defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is reportedly close to joining Tottenham, and Boly could be next in line.

The Wolves defender could be available at a lower price compared to other targets. His Premier League experience could be valuable, and the north Londoners might opt for what looks like a stop-gap option. The Ivorian represents good value for Spurs and could be a shrewd signing if they convert their reported interest into an offer.
