Leeds United have reportedly submitted an offer to secure the services of 20-year-old Norwegian goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson from Valerenga.

According to journalist Stian Andre de Wahl of Nettavisen, Leeds United have made an official bid for Valerenga goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson following director Victor Orta’s visit to Oslo.

Klaesson started out at Strommen IF before making the switch to Valerenga youth academy in 2011. The youngster rose through the ranks to break into the first-team in 2018. Since then, he has established himself as a regular in the lineup, racking up 55 appearances, in which he has managed 13 clean sheets.

Klaesson has represented the Norwegian national team across various youth levels and has five caps for the Under-21 side. However, he is yet to break into the senior team for his country. Nonetheless, the 20-year-old has made enough of an impression on Leeds United to make them push for his signing this summer.

Leeds United have been fairly active in the summer transfer window so far, with the signings of Junior Firpo and Jack Harrison, with more incomings expected in the coming weeks. One area that Marcelo Bielsa & co. will look to strengthen is the goalkeeping department, where they do not have a reliable backup for first-choice shot-stopper Illan Meslier.

Kiko Casilla was loaned out to La Liga 2 outfit Elche earlier this month, leaving the Whites with just a 19-year-old Elia Caprile, who has never played a senior game in his career yet, as cover for Meslier. To that end, a new goalkeeper becomes a necessary addition for the Yorkshire-based outfit to offset the departure of Casilla.

And, Klaesson seems to have emerged as the preferred candidate for Leeds United. The update from the journalist claims that the Whites director, Victor Orta, travelled to Norway in order to hold talks with the Valerenga officials, following which an official bid has been lodged, although the value of the offer has not been specified.

The offer, however, is said to be close to what Valerenga are demanding for their 20-year-old starlet, as the two clubs continue to negotiate. So, as things stand, a deal could be on the horizon as Leeds look to complete their third signing of the summer in the form of Klaesson.
