Barcelona have reportedly reignited their interest in 24-year-old Spanish left-back Angelino, who could leave Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Barcelona are interested in signing Angelino from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window. The Bundesliga giants could allow the 24-year-old Spanish left-back to depart the Red Bull Arena if they succeed in signing Alfonso Pedraza.

Angelino joined RB Leipzig from Manchester City in January 2020 on a short-term loan deal till the end of the 2019/20 season. The Bundesliga heavyweights, though, ended up signing him on loan in a second successive window last summer before landing him on a permanent deal earlier this year in February.

To date, the 24-year-old has made 55 appearances for Leipzig, with nine goals and 16 assists to show for his efforts. Having played some of the best football of his career at the Red Bull Arena, Angelino has invariably captured the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the game, with Barcelona, in particular, showing a lot of desire to secure his services.

In fact, the Blaugrana had been eager to sign Angelino last summer as well before they chose to retain the services of Junior Firpo. With Firpo joining Leeds United on a permanent deal this summer, there is a void in the left-back department at Barcelona, although that could be filled by the up-and-coming Alejandro Balde.

However, Balde is also facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou, with Chelsea recently expressing an interest in the prodigious left-back. With Jordi Alba on the wrong side of 30 and showing clear signs of decline, even if it is a gradual slowdown, Barcelona will surely be well served by signing a long-term solution for the left-back slot.

Alba has also been linked with a potential summer exit, with Inter Milan being hot on his trails. So, it is imperative that Barcelona sign a top-class left-back this summer, with Angelino emerging as a viable target for the Catalan giants.

Apart from the 24-year-old Spaniard, Barcelona have been linked with a bevy of left-backs, including Javi Galan, Leonardo Spinazzola and Jose Gaya. As far as Angelino himself is concerned, Barcelona will need a favour from Villarreal to land him from RB Leipzig, who want to sign Alfonso Pedraza.

Pedraza was once linked with Barcelona as well but is now tipped to join RB Leipzig. If the Bundesliga giants manage to sign him from Villarreal, Angelino could well be on his way to Barcelona, and it remains to be seen how the two transfer sagas evolve.
