Leeds United have reportedly set their sights on former Liverpool winger Ryan Kent over a potential move this summer.

According to a report by The Athletic, Ryan Kent is the subject of interest from Leeds United over a possible transfer in the summer transfer window. The former Liverpool winger is one of several Rangers players who have captured the attention of clubs across Europe following their Scottish Premiership triumph last season.

Ryan Kent progressed through the ranks at Liverpool after joining their famed academy in 2004 aged just seven. However, after breaking into their first-team setup in the 2015/16 season, the 24-year-old forward never really got a chance to make an impression at Anfield and was sent out on five different loan spells.

It is at Rangers, in particular, where he impressed a lot, which prompted the Scottish giants to sign him permanently from Liverpool in the summer of 2019. And this past season, Kent was one of the star performers as Rangers ended Celtic’s hegemony over the Scottish Premiership by clinching the league title, with 13 goals and 15 assists in 52 outings to show for his efforts. His progress has now alerted Leeds United.

The interest from Leeds is not new, as the Whites had been keen on signing him last summer as well. This time around, the West Yorkshire club’s pursuit of the ex-Liverpool winger could come to fruition, as they seek to improve their squad further to make a case for European qualification.

To that end, attack has been identified as one area that Marcelo Bielsa could bolster this summer, with Jack Harrison already being signed permanently while Noni Madueke has been heavily linked as well. And Kent is also a viable target for Leeds, seeing as Helder Costa failed to impress one bit last term.

In addition, with Rodrigo Moreno facing an uncertain future at Elland Road, it is prudent for Leeds to keep their options open. Meanwhile, Kent is not the only Rangers star to attract interest from a Premier League club, with captain James Tavernier being tracked by Arsenal and Manchester United while Glen Kamara has been linked with the Gunners as well.

What now remains to be seen is if Leeds launch the offensive for Kent anytime soon, with the report claiming that the 24-year-old could be the most “sellable” asset for Rangers. An intriguing summer beckons for the former Liverpool forward.
