Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are among clubs interested in Pierluigi Gollini as Atalanta potentially brace themselves for life without the Italian.

Atalanta’s latest acquisition of Juan Musso has drawn a lot of attention towards the future of Pierluigi Gollini. According to Calciomercato, no club is yet to officially make a move for the Italian shot-stopper, but he is being courted by multiple clubs, including Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.

Formerly of Udinese, Musso joined Atalanta for a fee of €20 million. It was a significant investment for the club, suggesting they are ready to cash in on Gollini, who had become the first-choice keeper over the past two and a half years.

A product of the Fiorentina youth academy, Gollini had a brief stint with Manchester United’s youth squad before moving to Aston Villa in 2016. He spent the first half of the 2016/17 Championship season in England, making 20 league appearances before joining Atalanta on loan in January 2017.

Gollini’s loan move was made permanent in 2018 for a fee of just €4 million. It turned out to be a bargain as the Italian has since become the first-choice ‘keeper for La Dea. He has already notched up 112 competitive appearances for the Serie A giants, becoming one of Italy’s top goalkeepers. The 26-year-old even earned his debut for the Azzurri in November 2019, though he is yet to make an appearance since.

Gollini’s large frame between the sticks, combined with his consistency, has now made him a target for Tottenham. With Hugo Lloris facing an uncertain future at the club, the Lilywhites are indeed looking for a new goalkeeper.

Earlier this year, they were linked with a move for Manchester United’s Dean Henderson. They were reportedly courting a host of other English ‘keepers as well, but it seems Fabio Paratici is more interested in finding players from his native Italy.

Along with Tottenham, Everton are also in the market for a new goalkeeper, suggesting they might be ready to cash in on Jordan Pickford. The English international will be in demand following exceptional performances in the ongoing European Championship. He is, in fact, yet to concede a single goal prior to England’s upcoming semi-final affair against Denmark tonight.

Everton and Tottenham’s search for a new goalkeeper appears to have led them to Gollini, who is more than capable of making the next step in his career. The recent addition of Musso is certainly a good indicator of his future at Atalanta, although both the Premier League clubs are set to face stiff competition from AS Roma, AC Milan and Lazio, in the pursuit of the 26-year-old.
