Manchester United are inching closer to securing prime target Jadon Sancho as Borussia Dortmund are set to accept a massive €85 million bid.

According to journalist Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund are ready to accept an €85 million offer from Manchester United for Jadon Sancho. The Red Devils are expected to make the improved bid shortly after prolonged negotiations with their German counterparts to bring the English winger to the Premier League.

The Jadon Sancho to Manchester United saga could be set for its climax as Borussia Dortmund have finally given indications towards accepting an offer. Dortmund have been holding on tight to their prized asset as Manchester United’s multiple bids were rejected over two long summers.

Last summer, Dortmund stuck with their valuation for Sancho, pricing United out of the move. But this time out, there is a reported ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between the German club and Sancho to let him leave at a reduced price. And the Bundesliga giants are seemingly keeping their word and letting him go, but at the right price.

Manchester United saw a €72 million offer rejected early on and which was followed by a bid of €78 million, which was turned down as well, claims Berger. However, if his information is accurate, the Red Devils have convinced Borussia Dortmund to accept the latest €85 million offer that was presented. The clubs are now set to discuss the add-ons and variables, while the actual transfer fee could also be divided into various instalments.

For a brief period, when both clubs were unable to agree on a deal, Manchester United were looking at alternatives for Sancho. Despite their chase lasting nearly two summers, United have been adamant about getting their man. Personal terms were agreed well in advance, but the transfer fee remained a bone of contention with Dortmund holding out for €90 million, but have now seemingly relented.

Sancho is currently with the England squad at the UEFA Euro 2020. United could finally conclude the transfer after the continental tournament when the player can be available for all necessary formalities. During his time at Borussia Dortmund, Sancho has been tremendous, featuring in 137 games, scoring 50 goals and providing 57 assists.

There’s also tremendous interest in Sancho’s Dortmund teammate, Erling Haaland, with Manchester United also in the running. However, Sancho is likely to move base first before Haaland. The transfer will be completed sooner than later, with the huge outlay representing a great value in the long run for United.
