Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly pushing Real Madrid to sign 24-year-old French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid’s search for a midfield reinforcement in the summer transfer window has taken Carlo Ancelotti back to the Premier League. 24-year-old French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has emerged as an option for Los Blancos, who are being pushed to swoop him away from Tottenham Hotspur.

Tanguy Ndombele joined Tottenham Hotspur from Lyon in the summer of 2019 in a club-record deal. However, the move did not pay off initially, with the French midfielder being a little slow to acclimatise to his new surroundings. In addition, Jose Mourinho did not really fancy him either.

2020/21, though, was a much better campaign for Ndombele, who made 46 appearances across all competitions while chipping in with six goals and four assists. With his progress being resumed this past season, Ndombele has managed to make an impression at one of the biggest clubs in Europe – Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen on signing him.

A possible move for Ndombele would make sense, considering midfield reinforcement could be key for Real Madrid this summer. That is because Luka Modric is in the twilight of his career, while Toni Kroos is on the wrong side of 30. With Dani Ceballos facing an uncertain Real Madrid future after returning from his loan spell with Arsenal, the need to bolster midfield has popped up.

To that end, Real Madrid have been linked with Paul Pogba and a few others over a move in the summer transfer window. And Ndombele has emerged as a viable target as well. However, the 24-year-old is merely an option being considered by Carlo Ancelotti for now, unlike his compatriot, who is a target for the club for good.

As per the report, Ancelotti is an admirer of Ndombele’s talents ever since his time at the Premier League with Everton. The Real Madrid manager also reckons that the French midfielder is the kind of profile the Merengues need amid the emergence of Antonio Blanco.

Meanwhile, Tottenham would be open to the prospect of selling Ndombele, as that would raise some funds that can help them rebuild their squad after a tumultuous 2020/21 campaign. Having said that, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid even make a move for the player and if a subsequent offer is enough to land him.
