Real Madrid are reportedly among the clubs that could hand 29-year-old Spanish international Pablo Sarabia an escape route from PSG.
According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Pablo Sarabia is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a move in the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old Spanish international is also being courted by Real Sociedad, who could be offered Brahim Diaz by Real Madrid to cool their interest in the PSG winger.
Pablo Sarabia began his senior-level club footballing career at Real Madrid, having spent five years in La Fabrica before representing Real Madrid Castilla for a couple of seasons. However, his big break with Los Blancos never came, and it is at Getafe and Sevilla where he made his name before subsequently establishing a foothold in the Spanish national side.
In the summer of 2019, Sarabia secured the biggest move of his career, joining Paris Saint-Germain from Sevilla. However, during his PSG stint, the 29-year-old has had to play second fiddle to the likes of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria, although he has still amassed 77 appearances chipping in with 21 goals and 12 assists.
Sarabia’s stock, though, seems to have risen following his exploits at UEFA Euro 2020 with Spain, with a game-defining performance against Slovakia clinching La Roja’s place in the Round of 16. And at the forefront of those pursuing the 29-year-old this summer are Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have already been heavily linked with one PSG star in Kylian Mbappe, with the French international touted to be their long-term priority. However, with Los Blancos in a precarious financial situation, they might have to look for cost-effective alternatives while putting off the move for Mbappe till next summer.
To that end, Sarabia is a viable target for the Merengues, whose eagerness to bolster their attack is hardly unfounded. After all, while Karim Benzema has been peerless in the Real Madrid first-team setup, the likes of Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr. have all blown hot and cold with their inexperience shining through at times.
In addition, Eden Hazard has struggled with fitness issues all through his Real Madrid stint. Meanwhile, Asensio has also been linked with a summer exit, meaning it is hardly surprising that Real Madrid could enter the market for an attacking reinforcement. And, they could well have the edge in pursuit of Sarabia, despite interest from Real Sociedad.
In fact, Real Madrid are prepared to offer Brahim Diaz, who has been heavily linked with a permanent switch to AC Milan, as a sweetener for Real Sociedad to cool their interest in the 29-year-old, as per the report. Having said that, it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid themselves launch the offensive for the Spanish international, as they look to beef up their attack this summer.
