Barcelona are reportedly among several top European clubs interested in Poland’s 17-year-old midfield sensation Kacper Kozlowski this summer.

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, La Liga giants Barcelona are keeping tabs on Poland’s teenage prodigy Kacper Kozlowski who plays for Pogon Szczecin but face competition from Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

Kozlowski is just 17 years old but is already making quite the ways in Europe. The versatile midfielder moved to Pogon in 2016 and has risen rapidly through the ranks at the club, making his first-team debut in 2019, when he was aged just 15. During the recently concluded campaign, the teenager saw plenty of game-time with the senior side, racking up 20 appearances in which he scored one goal and set up three more as well.

Kozlowski’s breakthrough campaign was enough for him to earn a spot in Poland’s squad for the UEFA Euro 2020 after he had made his national team debut in March earlier this year. The 17-year-old midfielder became the youngest player in the history of the European Championships when he came off the bench in Poland’s 1-1 draw with Spain, beating the record set by Jude Bellingham of England only a few days earlier.

With Kozlowski making all the right noises, the teenage prodigy has seemingly popped up on the radars of several top clubs this summer, including Barcelona. The Catalans, under returning president Joan Laporta, are again looking to turn towards youth in order to strengthen their academy ranks and produce stars from within the club’s famed La Masia setup.

The fact that youngsters like Ansu Fati, Pedri, Ilaix Moriba, Oscar Mingueza and Ronald Araujo have all been able to establish a foothold in the first-team at Camp Nou offers further encouragement for Barcelona to go down the road again.

To that end, Barcelona have been linked with several talented youngsters this summer, with Brazilian forward Yuri Alberto emerging as a transfer target. At the same time, former academy man Kays Ruiz-Atil is also set to rejoin from Paris Saint-Germain. Now, Kozlowski has also come up as a viable option for the Blaugrana.

The 17-year-old has two years left on his contract with Pogon Szczecin and is also attracting interest from the likes of Cagliari, Juventus as well as Borussia Dortmund. It now remains to be seen if Barcelona’s interest in the teenager translates into a formal approach in the coming weeks.
