Manchester City have reportedly taken the first step in pursuit of Tottenham superstar Harry Kane by lodging a £100 million offer for the England captain.

According to a report from reliable journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have made their first official bid to try and secure the signing of Tottenham Hotspur superstar and England captain Harry Kane this summer.

Kane has been one of the best strikers in the Premier League and the world over the past half-a-decade or so but has no silverware to show for his goalscoring exploits with Tottenham. The 2020/21 campaign was one of the best of the 27-year-old’s career as he bagged the Premier League Golden Boot as well as the Playmaker Award, but Spurs, as a whole, endured another underwhelming season.

With another managerial change on the cards, things have not been looking good for the north London giants, and Kane, amidst everything that is unfolding, has made up his mind to seek greener pastures in search of his first major trophy. This has sparked a flurry of interest in the services of the England captain, mainly from Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

And, it seems like the Cityzens have taken the first step in their attempt to lure the centre-forward to the Etihad Stadium this summer. Pep Guardiola & co. are in desperate need of a prolific striker this summer, having seen club legend and all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero leave for Barcelona on a free transfer.

With Gabriel Jesus failing to hit the heights expected of him, Manchester City have their sights firmly set on Kane. And, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions have made their first offer for the England captain. As per the update, the Sky Blues have offered a guaranteed sum of £100 million to Tottenham for their superstar, along with the option of signing one of their own players as part of the deal.

Romano further reveals that the players that Manchester City are willing to trade in the deal are fellow striker Jesus himself, along with Raheem Sterling as well as defender Aymeric Laporte, who is pushing for a transfer to Barcelona this summer. However, it is also claimed that Tottenham have no intention whatsoever of accepting the initial offer lodged by Guardiola & co. with Daniel Levy intent on keeping ahold of his prized asset.

Any decision on the matter will have to wait until the UEFA Euro 2020 is out of the way. Kane is currently leading England in the summer extravaganza has looked off-colour in the Three Lions’ first two matches. So, his focus will remain on taking his side all the way through in the European Championships before deciding on his club future.
