Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin and are prepared to shell out £50 million to secure his services.

According to an exclusive report by The Sun, Dominic-Calvert Lewin is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a move in the summer transfer window. The Spanish giants are ready to raid Carlo Ancelotti’s former employers Everton for the English international, with a £50 million bid being lined up.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined Everton from Sheffield United in the summer of 2016, but it is only in the last couple of seasons that he has blossomed into a dependable striker. In particular, it is under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti that the 24-year-old established himself as the leader of the Toffees’ attack and he is coming off his best campaign till date on an individual level.

In 39 games across all competitions, Calvert-Lewin had an impressive tally of 21 goals and four assists to show for his efforts. His progress has certainly not gone unnoticed, with a number of top clubs across Europe showing an interest in him, including Ancelotti’s current employers Real Madrid.

This is not the first time that Real Madrid have tailed Calvert-Lewin, who has previously been a part of a shortlist of candidates to be Karim Benzema’s successor. With Real Madrid still scouring the market for one such player as they look to lay down a succession plan for the Frenchman, the English international is a viable target.

Luka Jovic has failed to impress during his two-year stint with Real Madrid and is highly likely to be offloaded this summer. In addition, Mariano Diaz is also facing an uncertain future in the Spanish capital amid links with Atletico Madrid.

To that end, it is imperative that the Merengues sign a striker who can initially make do with sharing game-time before taking on the mantle of the first-choice striker. Ancelotti has, to that effect, suggested the name of Timo Werner, but Chelsea are unlikely to sell the German to Real Madrid this summer.

Los Blancos have also been linked with Richarlison amid suggestions that they could raid some of Ancelotti’s former employers this summer. And now, Calvert-Lewin has emerged on the radar of Real Madrid, who are lining up a £50 million bid for the 24-year-old.

As per The Sun, the £50 million offer could well be enough to secure his services as well, even though Everton might value him a bit higher. The report claims that Everton are under intense financial pressure, which could force them to accept a £50 million bid from Real Madrid. With that being said, it remains to be seen if the La Liga heavyweights do land the Englishman this summer.
