Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Aaron Ramsey is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Blaugrana are considering a possible swoop for the former Arsenal midfielder, who is likely to leave Juventus ahead of the new season.

Ramsey has previously spent over a decade at Arsenal, having joined them from Cardiff City in the summer of 2008. After overcoming major injury woes, the Welsh international proved to be a key player for the Gunners during the 11-year stint before departing the Emirates as a free agent two years ago, when he joined Juventus.

The switch from Arsenal to Juventus, though, has hardly worked wonders for Ramsey, who has struggled with fitness issues at the Allianz Stadium while struggling to become a regular for the Bianconeri. This past season, Ramsey started just 19 of the 52 games that Juventus played and is tipped for a summer exit. His next destination could be quite surprising, with Barcelona possibly in the hunt.

Barcelona were, for well over a year, heavily linked with a summer move for Georginio Wijnaldum, who was believed to be one of Ronald Koeman’s priorities for the summer. However, PSG swooped in at the eleventh hour to hijack the deal for the Dutch international, who is now set to turn out for Les Parisiens next season.

Barcleona are, therefore, having to scour the market for a midfielder, with several options already on the table to be considered. The latest name on their shortlist is Ramsey, with the ex-Arsenal star himself keen on completing the switch to Camp Nou in the summer transfer window.

Interestingly, Ramsey has been linked with a return to Arsenal as well, but is eager to make the move to Barcelona. As for the Blaugrana, they are currently just weighing up a transfer and could make a double raid on Juventus, signing Ramsey along with top defensive target Matthijs de Ligt.

What now remains to be seen is if Barcelona get serious about securing the services of Ramsey in the summer transfer window or if they make a move for an alternative instead, with Nicolo Barella, Bernardo Silva and Manuel Locatelli among those linked. An intriguing summer beckons.
