Dani Olmo has been vindicated in his decision to leave Barcelona aged just 16 in search of regular first-team football. After breaking out at Dinamo Zagreb, the Spaniard went from strength to strength before capturing the attention of some of the biggest clubs in the world. RB Leipzig won the race to sign him in January 2020, and he has not looked back since.
2020/21 was a solid campaign for the 23-year-old, who had a tally of seven goals and 12 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions to show for his efforts. Eighteen impressive months at the Red Bull Arena have one again put him on the radars of the European bigwigs like Real Madrid while also establishing himself as a full-fledged Spanish international.
The interest from Real Madrid makes a lot of sense considering Luka Modric is well into the final stage of his career and will need to start getting phased out in the upcoming season. Therefore, Olmo is certainly an option worth considering for Real Madrid, who can use him in a variety of roles depending on the system Carlo Ancelotti chooses to implement.
