Sergio Ramos has reportedly been offered a five-year deal by Sevilla amid a lot of uncertainty surrounding his future at Real Madrid.

According to Spanish radio station esRadio, Sergio Ramos has been offered the chance to return to former club Sevilla in the summer transfer window. The La Liga giants have table a five-year deal for the Spanish international, who is at odds with Real Madrid over the terms of a new contract.

Sergio Ramos has gone on to establish himself as one of the very best players of his generation since joining Real Madrid from Sevilla in the summer of 2005 in what was a record transfer for a Spanish defender. Initially a right-back, Ramos has spent the majority of his stint with Los Blancos as a central defender, and an excellent one at that.

To date, the 35-year-old has amassed 671 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in what 101 goals and 40 assists. However, his future has been the subject of intense speculation for months now, with his current contract expiring at the end of this month. With the days of his deal numbered, it looks like Real Madrid will need to pull a rabbit out of the hat to tie him down to a renewal.

Indeed, in recent months, Ramos has been at odds with the Merengues over the terms of the new contract, as he wants a two-year deal while Real Madrid have only been prepared to extend his stay by twelve months for the most part. As a result, Ramos has been linked with several clubs including Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG, with Sevilla now emerging in his pursuit.

The interest from Sevilla is not too surprising, considering they are in a precarious situation over the future of Jules Kounde, who has coincidentally been linked as a replacement for Ramos. If the French international does end up departing from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, Los Nervionenses will be in need of a replacement.

Ramos, to that end, could be a viable target, despite the fact that he is well into the twilight of his career. The Thiago Silva example is the perfect indication that even at his age, Ramos could make a definitive impact for Sevilla, who have offered him a staggering five-year deal.

If Ramos accepts the terms on offer, he will have committed himself to Sevilla till he turns 40 and it will be interesting to see if he is indeed interested in returning to his former club. For now, the veteran defender’s future at Real Madrid continues to become more uncertain with every passing day.
