Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Jamal Musiala and are set to track the 18-year-old German international at UEFA Euro 2020.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Jamal Musiala is the subject of interest from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The Spanish giants have compiled a list of youngsters to monitor closely during UEFA Euro 2020, with the 18-year-old Bayern Munich prodigy featuring on this shortlist.

Jamal Musiala spent much of his formative years with Chelsea before finishing his footballing education with Bayern Munich. The 18-year-old broke into the Bundesliga heavyweights’ first-team setup nearly twelve months ago, becoming the youngest player to play a match for Bayern in the Bundesliga, aged 17 years and 115 days.

Since then, the teenage prodigy has continued growing exponentially, and in 2020/21, he raked in 37 appearances for the German giants while also becoming their youngest goalscorer, aged 17 years and 205 days. Musiala’s progress has earned him a call-up to the German national side for UEFA Euro 2020 while putting him on the radars of several top clubs, including Real Madrid.

The interest in Musiala makes a great deal of sense for Real Madrid, who are seemingly laying down a succession plan for Luka Modric, who will be 36 later this year. With Toni Kroos on the wrong side of 30 as well, Los Blancos will be served well to bolster their midfield, seeing as neither Dani Ceballos nor Martin Odegaard is guaranteed a future in the Spanish capital.

To that end, Real Madrid have been linked with a number of young midfielders, including Florian Neuhaus, with fellow German international Musiala now popping up on their agenda as well. In fact, Real Madrid are set to closely monitor the 18-year-old at UEFA Euro 2020, in addition to four other promising youngsters.

The summer could see Carlo Ancelotti turn towards his former clubs to reinforce his squad, with the likes of Richarlison, James Rodriguez, Kingsley Coman and Joshua Kimmich linked already. Musiala, though, could be the most prudent of signings if Real Madrid can pull it off.

Having said that, the Merengues are simply going to track the teenage prodigy at UEFA Euro 2020 for now, and it will be interesting to see if they make any concrete efforts to secure his services in the summer transfer window. However, Bayern Munich are likely to hold firm in such a scenario.
