Real Madrid are reportedly debating the possibility of re-signing Achraf Hakimi in a €60 million deal in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Real Madrid are keen on re-signing Achraf Hakimi in the summer transfer window. However, the Merengues are currently unsure whether they are ready to meet Inter Milan’s €60 million valuation of the Moroccan defender, who is also a target for PSG.

Hakimi joined Inter Milan from Real Madrid last summer and has enjoyed a stellar maiden season with the Nerazzurri. A pivotal member of the squad that won the Serie A title, with 7 goals and 10 assists in 37 league appearances making him one of the key contributors for the newly-crowned champions.

However, Inter Milan’s precarious financial condition means they might have to offload a few key players in order to find some stability. To that end, Hakimi could well be one of the players on their way out of San Siro this summer, which has piqued the interest of a number of clubs including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are entering a period of transition following the departure of Zinedine Zidane. Along with that, a squad overhaul is due as well, with a number of players failing to impress while a few others are reaching the final stages of their respective careers. The right-back slot, in particular, has been a problem area in the season gone by.

First-choice right-back Dani Carvajal suffered from a spate of injuries while Alvaro Odriozola was not trusted by Zidane, although he did get his chances towards the end of the campaign. Lucas Vazquez stepped up as a makeshift right-back, but is facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid, as his contract expires at the end of this month.

As a result, Real Madrid have been linked with quite a few right-backs, including Serge Aurier among others. Hakimi, though, is also a viable target and might not take long to get settled in the environs at the club. And, if Los Blancos end up appointing Antonio Conte as their next manager, the 22-year-old would be a perfect fit in the new system.

However, Real Madrid are currently unsure whether they want to meet the €60 million valuation that Inter Milan have imposed on Hakimi, who is also a target for French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain. Interestingly, PSG are ready to pay the required €60 million to land Hakimi, but with Real Madrid having the first option on him, it will be interesting to see if they swoop him away instead.
