Real Madrid are reportedly interested in re-signing Achraf Hakimi, who could be sold by Inter Milan for a fee of €50 million, amid serious financial troubles.

According to a report from Calciomercato, reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid are hoping to re-sign former defender Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan in the summer. And the newly-crowned Serie A champions would be open to a sale as they are currently mired in financial problems.

Hakimi came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and broke into the first-team setup in 2017. However, with Dani Carvajal firmly ahead of him in the pecking order, the Moroccan was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund for a two-year stint. The right-back excelled in Germany, establishing himself as one of the best young modern full-backs in Europe.

Back at Real Madrid last summer, though, Hakimi was deemed surplus to requirement by manager Zinedine Zidane, following which he sealed a permanent transfer to Inter Milan. Since joining the Nerazzurri, the 22-year-old has become an integral member of Antonio Conte’s side, racking up 44 appearances in all competitions, bagging seven goals and ten assists.

Indeed, Hakimi played a critical role in Inter Milan going on to end their eleven-year wait for the Serie A title. However, while they may be going places on the field, things are not looking so good off the field for the Italian champions, with the club struggling financially, which could force them to cash in on a few of their top stars in the summer transfer window, including Hakimi.

Real Madrid have been alerted by this development and are considering taking the Moroccan international back to the Santiago Bernabeu. Such a move would make a lot of sense for the Merengues as they have had major problems in the right-back slot in the second half of the ongoing campaign due to a couple of serious injuries for first-choice in the position, Dani Carvajal.

The Spanish international did come back briefly last month only to exacerbate his injury and get ruled out for the season. With Zidane not rating Alvaro Odriozola highly, Lucas Vazquez had to fill in at right-back and did a fine job before succumbing to a season-ending injury himself. And with his contract up for expiry at the end of the season and Odriozola’s future prospects bleak, Real Madrid need a new right-back in the summer.

This has seen them get linked with a shock move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Serge Aurier. But signing someone like Hakimi, who has his best years in front of him and knows the club inside out, would make sense for Real Madrid. The Moroccan international, as per the report, is valued at €50 million, with Paris Saint-Germain also interested in securing his services ahead of the next season. It remains to be seen if the 22-year-old ends up sealing a swift return to Spain come summer.

Big mistake made by Madrid president selling Hakimi without genuine reason, and you wanted to resign him now , its obvious unmatured decision.

  2. Muhammad Magaji Ahmad says:

Yes!!! I have agreed with this transfer, the mistake they’ll make in not signing him this summer is more than the one they did in selling him last time.
Bring him back now Mr Perez.

I don’t know what caused Zinedine Zidane and the board of Real Madrid to sanction the sale of this Hakim guy. This player is good and do play better than Dani Carvajal. It is a move in the right direction especially now that Marcelo is old and Odriozola is not so convincing.
