Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi, who is also a target for Paris Saint-German and Inter Milan.
According to a report by Ukrainian outlet Sport Arena, Ruslan Malinovskyi is the subject of interest from Chelsea over a move in the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old Atalanta playmaker is also being courted by the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Ruslan Malinovskyi joined Atalanta from Genk in the summer of 2019 and has since gone on to cement his place in the first-team setup at the Gewiss Stadium. However, it is only after the exit of Papu Gomez that the 28-year-old has flourished properly, having established himself as a pivotal figure for La Dea.
In fact, Malinovskyi has either scored or assisted a goal in each of the last 10 games that Atalanta have played while over the course of the season, he has a tally of 9 goals and 12 assists in 41 outings across all competitions. His progress this term has certainly not gone unnoticed, with Chelsea keen on signing the Ukrainian international.
The interest from Chelsea is not entirely surprising, considering Hakim Ziyech has struggled to settle in seamlessly since arriving from Ajax last summer. As a result, the Blues have been linked with a few playmakers in recent times, with James Maddison being named as a target as well.
Furthermore, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge, it is likely that any playmaker will be sourced from another club instead of looking for an in-house solution. As a result, Malinovskyi is a viable target for Chelsea, who can bolster their creative ranks as a player who will arrive at the club at the peak of his powers.
Chelsea, though, face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan in the race to sign Malinovskyi in the summer transfer window. Atalanta’s stance on the player’s possible sale, though, has not been mentioned, but it will be hardly surprising if the Serie A outfit choose to rebuff offers for him.
For now, what appears to be certain is that Ruslan Malinovskyi has popped up on the radars of Chelsea, PSG and Inter Milan. It will now be interesting to see if a big move beckons the 28-year-old playmaker, or if he stays put at Atalanta.
