Real Madrid have reportedly made an approach to sign 24-year-old French international Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham Hotspur.

According to an exclusive report by Football Insider, Real Madrid are interested in signing Tanguy Ndombele in the summer transfer window. In fact, Tottenham Hotspur have already been approached by the reigning La Liga champions, but the Premier League heavyweights are not open to offers for the 24-year-old just yet.

Ndombele joined Tottenham from Lyon in the summer of 2019, but is yet to fully click for the north London giants. Having arrived at the club amid a lot of hype surrounding his talent, the Frenchman has frustrated with his inconsistencies, which have been prevalent this term as well.

The 24-year-old had been one of the better performers for Spurs in the first half of the season, but has been sub-par since the turn of the year. Nevertheless, Ndombele has been a regular for the Premier League heavyweights this season, amassing 44 appearances across all competitions. And, despite blowing hot and cold, the Tottenham midfielder has emerged on Real Madrid’s radar.

Real Madrid are in need of bolstering their midfield unit, as they look to prepare for life after Luka Modric in a year or two. With the Croat 35 years old, laying down a succession plan for him is imperative, which is why Los Blancos have been linked with a number of midfielders, including Nicolo Barella.

French international Houssem Aouar is a target as well, with his compatriot Ndombele now being linked as well. While he has blown hot and cold at Tottenham, the 24-year-old still has shown a lot of potential in providing smart ball-progression from midfield, which, if harnessed properly, can make him an asset for Real Madrid.

The Merengues, though, will need to splash the big bucks to secure the services of Ndombele, with Tottenham likely to want to recoup the £54 million they paid to sign him from Lyon. Having said that, Spurs are yet to make their mind up on whether they want to part ways with the midfielder, meaning Real Madrid might have to wait to learn if they can land him.

For now, though, the 24-year-old French international has popped up on the radar of the defending Spanish champions, who have approached Tottenham over the prospect of signing him. It now remains to be seen if a move for Ndombele can see the light of the day this coming summer.
