Arsenal have emerged as a shock destination for Juventus outcast Aaron Ramsey, who is desperate for a return to north London.

According to Il Bianconero, Aaron Ramsey’s days at Juventus could be numbered. It appears the club is frustrated with the midfielder’s poor performances over the past couple of seasons and will be keen on offloading him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Ramsey himself is determined to return to England, and in particular, Arsenal as he believes he has what it takes to shine in the Premier League once again. He is also keen on reuniting with current head coach Mikel Arteta, who used to be his teammate during their playing days at the Emirates.

Speculations regarding the Welshman’s return to England is not something new, however, as the player has been linked with multiple English clubs since his awful first season in Turin. One of the more unexpected candidates in Ramsey’s transfer saga emerged in March when Liverpool were reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for the Juventus playmaker.

It appears, though, Ramsey is only keen on a move to Arsenal, which isn’t a surprise either as the 30-year-old had made 371 competitive appearances for the Gunners before leaving Emirates in 2019. Ramsey’s spell at Juventus, however, has been marred by slight fitness issues, lack of opportunities and most importantly, poor performances. It seems the midfielder has found it difficult to get used to the more defensive nature of Italian football.

A return to Arsenal, therefore, seems like the logical move, especially considering the fact that Mikel Arteta is already in the market for a new playmaker.

His team has received stark criticism due to their lack of creativity going forward and an over-reliance on Bukayo Saka. The likes of Nicolas Pepe and Willian have also not worked out at all, drawing more heat.

Arteta, as a result, might be open to exploring less-risky options like Ramsey, who already has a vast experience of English football and could once again thrive at Emirates. It also explains why Arsenal are so determined to secure a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard, though Real Madrid aren’t likely to let him go easily.

Nevertheless, in Ramsey, the Gunners could find themselves a useful alternative as Arteta hopes to fix his team’s problems next season, especially after their elimination from the UEFA Europa League, at the hands of Villarreal.
