Liverpool have reportedly slapped a €20 million price tag on midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is a target for German giants Borussia Dortmund.

According to a report from Spanish publication Fichajes, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is valued at around €20 million by Premier League champions Liverpool.

Oxlade-Chamberlain came through the youth ranks at Southampton before joining Arsenal in 2011 where he spent six years making a name for himself. However, having constantly been played out of position at the Emirates, the 27-year-old made the switch to Liverpool in the summer of 2017 and soon became a instant hit.

Till date, Oxlade-Chamberlain has racked up 101 appearances for the Reds, scoring 13 goals and setting up 11 more. However, injuries have meant that the England international has dropped down the pecking order at Anfield this season. Indeed, the former Arsenal ace finds himself behind Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, Naby Keita as well as Curtis Jones in the order of preference.

As a result, Oxlade-Chamberlain has managed just only 14 appearances across all competitions this term, producing a solitary assist. With game-time hard to come by and his confidence shot, Liverpool are open to letting go of the 35-time capped England international this summer, something that has alerted Borussia Dortmund.

The German giants are set for a new manager in the summer, with Marco Rose ready to take over from interim manager Edin Terzic. But, it seems like plans are already afoot for the upcoming transfer window, with Oxlade-Chamberlain someone the club is intent on signing, as per the report.

Quite how the 27-year-old would fit in at Signal Iduna Park would be interesting to see, given that Dortmund already have a number of midfield options at their disposal. Indeed, the Black and Yellow call upon Thomas Delaney, Emre Can, Mahmoud Dahoud, Jude Bellingham in addition to attacking midfield options like Julian Brandt and Giovanni Reyna.

However, Brandt has been heavily linked with an exit in the summer, with Oxlade-Chamberlain’s former club Arsenal interested in signing the German international. Should he leave, there could be a space open for the Liverpool midfielder, who is known for his dribbling capabilities and the ability to hit the target from distance.

The fact that he would cost only €20 million is something that would appeal to Dortmund as well, as they will have the means to sign him given that they are set to offload either of Jadon Sancho or Erling Haaland, who is being targeted by a number of top clubs across Europe, including Liverpool. It now remains to be seen if Oxlade-Chamberlain does end up securing a transfer to Germany before next season.
