Juventus have reportedly slapped a €25 million price tag on Alex Sandro, who is a target for Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Chelsea now know how much they will have to pay in order to secure the services of Alex Sandro in the summer transfer window. Juventus want €25 million in exchange for the 30-year-old Brazilian international, who is likely to be offloaded ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Alex Sandro joined Juventus from FC Porto in the summer of 2015 and was an instant success at the club. However, in the last couple of years, the defender’s stock has fallen a fair bit, with injuries also playing a part in his downfall. And, in the ongoing campaign, Andrea Pirlo has rotated him heavily on the left side of the defence.

Till date, Sandro has turned out 228 times for Juventus, even contributing in the final third with 13 goals and 29 assists. Heading into the summer transfer window, though, it looks like Sandro’s time with the Bianconeri is set to end, with Chelsea a likely destination, as they aim to replace both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.

Indeed, neither Alonso nor Emerson has managed to perform consistently over the last few years and under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel, it is Ben Chilwell who has prevailed to become the first-choice left wing-back. Having said that, if Chelsea do intend to move both Alonso and Emerson out of the club, they will need to sign a replacement.

To that end, Alfonso Pedraza is one of the left-backs who have been linked with the Blues, with Alex Sandro a viable target as well. Indeed, with Chilwell the first-choice left wing-back, Sandro could be used as a rotation option, meaning he could become an asset for a few years despite entering his thirties.

Three super clubs that should pursue Jose Gaya | THT Opinions

As for Juventus, they are hoping to recoup around €25 million for the 30-year-old, with Jose Gaya identified as a possible replacement, although the Italian giants will face stiff competition in his pursuit from Barcelona. Chelsea, though, are hoping to drive down the €25 million valuation by offering Emerson as part of the deal for the Brazilian international.

Emerson is indeed one of Juventus’s targets and could prove to be the trump card for Chelsea to land Sandro without loosening their purse strings. What now remains to be seen is if Chelsea’s offer for the experience defender is accepted by the Bianconeri, or if they are forced to cough up €25 million to sign him.
